It’s called “glutinous rice” because of the stickiness when cooked. Glutinous rice balls, or tangyuan, is a traditional dish eaten during Chinese Lantern Festival. They are little gooey dumplings stuffed with a sweet black sesame filling. They are traditionally eaten during Yuanxiao , or the Lantern Festival. We offer both filled and unfilled varieties of tangyuan, suitable for all occasions.

When you read this, you may be confused. It falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month marking the end of the Spring Festival, and people usually celebrate it together.

In China, people in northern China have to eat Yuanxiao (元宵: glutinous rice balls) while people in southern China have to eat Tangyuan (汤圆: glutinous rice balls) on Lantern Festival.
